What Diners Say...
Why the Special Menu?
One of the number one comments about Singapore is the exorbitant price of Singapore Chili Crab. I have partnered with Rainbow Rice House to provide authentic Chili Crab experience that I have tasted since young - that is spicy kick with the sweetness of tomato sauce. Too many restaurants have dialed down the spiciness of the dish for the tourists and charged too high for the dish. This is my way of welcoming visitors to Singapore and supporting small F&B establishments.
How to make the dish cheaper?
One of the main reasons why it is so expensive is that the restaurants have to keep the ingredients fresh by maintaining water tanks for the fish and crabs. The other main reason is the high cost of rentals in Singapore. Rainbow Rice House is a local eatery that does not have the posh surroundings of high end restaurants but it is how locals eat and no extra charges for the ambiance and the rent.
Secondly, we bring in fresh produce from the sea on the day the dinner is organised. Both factors helped to lower the cost.
To sweeten the deal, we added local Hokkien mee, and sweet and sour soup to complete the meal.
Why the 3 days advance order?
Rainbow Rice House does not cook such special dishes on a daily basis because of the high costs. It will only order the crabs on the day of consumption to keep it cheap and fresh.
Can we add more dishes and drinks?
Yes you can. There are other dishes you can choose from the wall of photos.
Just pay the difference in cash (this also lower the cost of doing business). You can order Singapore's Tiger Beer or Heineken on top of other local drinks such as kopi and teh (coffee and tea). Do note there are NO credit card facilities so bring cash for overseas visitors.
Payment Methods?
Rainbow Rice House only accepts Cash from overseas visitors. Locals can use your QR code payment methods. The only way to enjoy the special menu is via the booking system shared below.
