Useful Apps/Sites

Singapore is a well connected country with some citizens owning more than 2 phones to play their Pokemon, Work and Personl. Singaporeans are well served with these apps and will be useful for any visitors.

1. Google Maps is very good for navigating Singapore. After you search for a location, tap "Directions," and the app will show you many ways to get there. The public transport information is also very accurate.

2. Singapore Maps

"Singapore Maps" was created by Street Directory Pte Ltd. Before the internet arrived, we had a thick book of this in our vehicles. What sets it apart from Google Maps is its ability to pinpoint the exact location of the building you want to go to (such as a single shophouse within a row of shophouses). It also shows the location of the MRT entrances and bus timings. This map is very useful for people who walk a lot.

3. Gothere.sg (https://gothere.sg/maps)

Enter any location, and the website will provide directions on how to get there using different modes of transportation, along with the estimated cost and travel duration.

4. Weather.gov.sg (http://www.weather.gov.sg/home/)

Not sure if it will rain later? This website provides real-time updates every 5 minutes about the areas experiencing rain in Singapore. Use the scroll bar to predict the areas the rain clouds will move to and where the rain will hit next.

5. MRT map

You can save a copy of the map on your phone to plan the best MRT route to your destination. The link will allow you to download a PDF document with the Singapore MRT Map.

6. Grab/Zig/Gojek/Tada/Ryde

These are private hire car and taxi apps. Be cautious of price surges during peak periods. If you can't book a ride using a single app, it's sometimes a good idea to request a ride on multiple apps simultaneously.

The most popular is Grab followed by Tada. If you want a taxi, then Zig is the app to use. Remember to request a car with booster seats if your children require it (there are no such restrictions for taxis).

7. Chope

This app allows you to make reservations at the restaurants you want to dine at. With a listing of more than 3,500 restaurants and their opening hours, Chope makes it convenient to secure your dining arrangements.
